This coat features a semi-fitted upper body, nipped in waist and dramatic flare around the hem, making it great fun to swish around in. It makes every-day walking feel like a grand sashay to me!
The body of the coat features classic waist and shoulder darts for fit, while the lower half is cut in a full circle. Around the waist is a decorative taffeta bow, finished with metallic silver stitching, which ties up at the centre back, or bring it round to tie closed at the front. On the front there are two patch pockets at about hip level, the flaps of which are secured with silver coloured metal buttons.
The sleeves of the coat will allow you to wear something long-sleeved underneath, provided it is not too bulky. Long (20cm) slit cuffs with a contrasting button stand and row of five smaller matching metal buttons finish off the sleeves.
A row of black pleated crushed taffeta runs around the entire neck, front opening and hem of the coat. At the centre front are three evenly spaced black satin ribbons to tie the coat closed with little bows. While this will secure the coat, please be aware that it is not going to provide much of a seal to any serious winter weather (but you will look good).
Outer Fabric - Main: Purple, black and white check, heavy acrylic-blend twill with metallic purple highlights. Trim: Black crushed nylon taffeta.
Lining (fully lined): Black crushed nylon taffeta.
Sizing: The coat has finished measurements of 110cm around the bust and 75.5cm at the waist. It flares out into a full circle from the waist down and so is basically free-sized around the hips.
